PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Mulberry Piccadilly is crafted from substantial croc-embossed leather in the classic Oak shade and finished with brass-tone hardware.
The Piccadilly is the largest style in Mulberry’s iconic Bayswater family and was designed as a spacious unisex travel bag. Based on the classic Bayswater design but produced on a significantly larger scale, it is ideal as a weekend bag, travel bag or extra-large everyday bag.
This version is crafted from substantial Oak leather with a pronounced crocodile-embossed finish. The structured leather gives the bag a distinctive and luxurious appearance while also helping it retain its shape exceptionally well despite its generous proportions.
Over the years, the original Oak colour has developed a rich, warm patina with beautiful reddish-brown tones and natural variations in colour depth. The patina accentuates the crocodile embossing and gives this particular bag a distinctive and classic vintage character.
The front is secured with Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s Lock. The bag features two long, rounded leather handles as well as the classic hanging leather clochette with the original Mulberry padlock.
The exceptionally spacious main compartment makes the Piccadilly particularly well suited to travel and weekend stays. Inside, adjustable leather straps allow the depth of the bag to be regulated and its shape adapted as required.
The interior features three practical pockets: one zipped pocket with a Riri zip and two open pockets.
This vintage Piccadilly does not have a serial-number disc, which is entirely normal for early vintage versions of the style. Serial-number discs were not used on the earliest Piccadilly models.
The bag’s authenticity has been confirmed and guaranteed based on a comprehensive assessment of the leather, construction, hardware, stitching, logos, embossing, Riri zip, interior details and other characteristic Mulberry features.
The combination of the Piccadilly’s impressive proportions, substantial croc-embossed Oak leather and beautifully developed patina makes this a particularly distinctive vintage example.
Condition: Beautiful and Well Maintained
The bag is presented in beautiful, well-maintained vintage condition and is exceptionally well preserved for its age.
The substantial croc-embossed leather has retained its distinctive texture exceptionally well throughout the bag. The original Oak colour has developed a beautiful, rich patina with warm reddish-brown tones and natural variations in colour depth, accentuating the crocodile embossing and enhancing the bag’s classic vintage character.
Despite its generous size, the bag retains its shape beautifully. The leather handles are likewise well preserved, hold their shape well and have neat edges and intact stitching.
The corners are intact and very well preserved, with no wear through the leather. A naturally darker patina is visible along the lower edges and in certain areas of the bag, developed gradually over the years and blending beautifully with the leather’s overall variation in tone. The four protective metal feet on the base are intact.
The brass-tone hardware is well preserved, with natural surface marks and a light patina. The Postman’s Lock shows visible but typical surface marks from use, as would be expected on a vintage bag of this age. The lock functions as intended.
The interior is clean, neat and well maintained, with normal light signs of previous use. The soft, raw reverse of the leather, adjustable leather straps and interior pockets are all very well preserved.
