PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Mulberry Vintage Bayswater is crafted from Mulberry’s iconic Darwin Leather in the classic Oak shade and finished with brass-tone hardware.
The Bayswater is one of Mulberry’s most iconic designs, and this earlier version is particularly interesting as it is crafted from classic Darwin Leather – one of Mulberry’s most distinctive vintage leathers.
Darwin is a substantial, naturally textured leather that develops a rich and individual patina over time. On this bag, the original Oak shade has developed a warm, deep tone with natural variations in colour, highlighting the leather’s texture and giving the bag a beautiful, classic vintage character.
The bag has retained its signature Bayswater shape exceptionally well. The substantial Darwin Leather continues to provide excellent structure, while the two long leather shoulder handles have also retained their shape beautifully.
The front is secured with Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s Lock, and the bag features the classic hanging leather clochette with the original Mulberry padlock.
Inside, the soft suede reverse of the leather forms the interior, while adjustable leather straps at the sides allow the bag’s shape and opening to be adapted as required. There are three practical interior pockets – one zipped pocket with a Riri zip and two open pockets.
The interior Mulberry disc does not have a serial number, which is correct for this vintage model. The bag’s authenticity has been confirmed and guaranteed based on a comprehensive assessment of the leather, construction, hardware, stitching, logos, embossing, Riri zip, interior details and other characteristic Mulberry features.
A classic Bayswater in iconic Oak Darwin Leather is now rare to find in such well-preserved condition, making this particular example especially distinctive.
Condition: Beautiful and Well Maintained
The bag is presented in exceptionally beautiful and well-maintained vintage condition.
The Oak Darwin Leather has developed a beautiful, warm patina with natural variations in colour. The leather’s distinctive texture remains clearly visible, and the bag has retained its shape exceptionally well.
The corners, edges and base are very well preserved, with the corners remaining intact and neat.
The shoulder handles are well preserved, with neat edges and intact stitching, and continue to hold their shape beautifully.
The brass-tone hardware has developed a light, natural patina that complements the warm Oak leather beautifully. The Postman’s Lock and other metal components display a subtle vintage character, adding charm and enhancing the bag’s classic appearance.
The interior is clean, neat and very well maintained. The suede reverse of the leather, interior straps and all three pockets are beautifully preserved.
